New guy with questions on new bike!

These are bikes that work well on the road for recreational riding or trips to the store and also work for paved or well groomed bike trails, rails-to-trails and around the block.

New guy with questions on new bike!

Postby Jerrymelons » Tue Mar 10, 2015 7:43 pm

Hi, everyone! I found this site a while back, before buying my Thruster Fixie. I was just wondering if anyone has seen this new Roadmaster hybrid? http://www.walmart.com/ip/700c-Roadmast ... e/42248086 I recently went to walmart and saw two on the very top racks and thought they looked great! I've had the for a while and liked it a lot, but now have given it to my brother. I'm not new to bikes, and just want something that has gears to commute on. I can already just see this bike with a set of drop bars and the stickers pulled off! (which I made sure they were just stickers!) Last week, my girlfriend bought me a used Schwinn Coffee 2 7 speed as an early birthday present! I was going to put the drop bars I already have on. But unfortunately that bike was stolen two days later, after they cut the two locks I had on it!! I currently ride a Schwinn varsity bicentennial that I've converted to a single speed coaster. Like I said, I just wanted to if anyone else had sen this bike?

That bike was mentioned in another thread around here somewhere. I've never seen one in person, but I agree that it looks like it could be built into a decent commuter type bike. Pull those stickers off, add some fenders and a bike rack and it would be well on its way. :)

So I got the bike and have put a few miles on it! It's a great bike! Very was to ride, very comfortable. The only thing that I've done to it was change the rear derailleur for a better Shimano tourney. The original one wouldn't shift into sixth at all! I also took the stickers off, right when I got home, and added a seat tube rack.

That looks pretty good. Almost makes me want to get on, and throw on my drop bars and stem, and swap the wheels out for the vittesse wheels for the Denali pro.

I just wish roadmasters didn't run so small. What's the frame size?

From what I measure it's an 18" frame. I already have the drop bars for it! Just waiting on my levers to come tomorrow, so I can install them!

Nice! Can't wait to see it!

Looks like an updated mt. Climber frame (v-brake bosses and English bottom bracket).

I don't need another bike, though... Lol.

Thanks guys! Me and my brother took a 20 mile yesterday and the Roadmaster was great! It's a comfortable bike, with the new components even more so! It rode great!
