Maybe its the angle of the photo but I am not seeing a rear handbrake on either of them.

Nope, your not missing anything. Neither has rear hand brakes. These are both outgrown bikes. My younger rode the Abyss for a week waiting for the KHS Raptor I posted in the 26er forum. It is a full on MTB, and he adapted very easily to real brakes. Can't keep him off it now.

This is my 7year olds bike it is the schwinn flight it has front/back hand brakes and a coaster brake really nice bike for what i have in it.

Are the brake arms on his actually thick enough to work? The fronts on both of my kids bikes are so thin and flimsy I am afraid if they actually used them they'd just bend.

the back has a v-style that locks the tire up good and the front could be alot better but it works good he never uses the coaster brake and he gets sideways when he locks the back up
I ride BigBoy toyz 29ERZ allday......
