Which model? They were still building PX10s then. And teams were still riding them in the Tour de France. My PX10 is a 1972 model. Amazing bikes for their time... and damn quick even today!

I'm thinking it is a AO8 or a UO8. Definitely not the PX10, I could only dream.

A UO8 I think. Still a decent bike. I had one before I got the PX10 (which I bought in Europe for $200... they were a lot more expensive in the USA).

Those side-pull brakes were pretty crappy back in those days (the PX10 had center-pull DiaComp brakes that worked a lot better) so I think those would be high on the list to replace. DiaComp, almost certainly... the modern versions work a lot better but are about $80 each I think.

That will make a nice commuter or even a decent single-speed.

call me crazy but thinking of making it a 1x5 (if I can find a 5spd setup) or a 1x8 if not. Also, going to use it for touring, centuries, commuting.

Looks good. But those brakes are crazy. Side pull/ canti mashup. Lol. The pics are a little large for me to see on my tablet. Gonna have to look it up on a desktop later.

Yea, I uploaded them from my phone. As for the bike some plans have changed. The brakes, wheels, tires, bottom bracket, crank, essentially everything except the frame, quill, and bars will be replaced. Ordering new headset bearings from VeloOrange along with bottom bracket. Still deciding on a crankset because I want to do a 2x10 setup now. I have already respaced the frame for a shimano style rear wheel. I may end up ordering the really nice hi lo wheelset from Velo Orange. Who knows, I'm currently building a 1x10 road bike for time trials and road racing.

So, I ended up creating this into my road bike/race bike.

1974 Peugeot UO8
Velo Orange Headset
Velo Orange Bottom Bracket
SR Custom Cranks from a 80's model Raliegh with a single 52t Chain Ring
Shimano WH-RS10 or something wheels
Shimano 105 rear cassette, derailleur, and brifters

if it's not listed then it was kept from the original

still looking for new brakes.
