Talk me out of this: Huffy 3.0 Tyrant

So I impulse bought a 26"x3" Huffy Tyrant 3.0.. and btw 3.0 literally f%#+ing means "3 times the fun" - so why not right?
Anyway, I have the opportunity to either return it or mod it so luckily for me I have a few days to figure it out.
When doing my due dillegence (after I purchased, sadly) I stumbled upon the the carnage videos of a similar huffy and it's starting to make me concerned that with the handlebars might come flying off and the fork might split. This leaves me to modding the bike.. yea, it's probably not worth it - but I also only occasionally hit MTB trails which don't really require much skill. So I don't see a point in spending $499+

Stock specs:
3-piece steel crank
Kolo 5400 suspension fork
SRAM 21-speed twist shifter
Shimano 7-speed rear derailleur

Possible Upgrades:
Fork? (Not sure how/what to get?)
Shimano tourney sl-tx30 shifter
Shimano tourney rd-tx800 rear derailleur
Disc brakes? (Not sure how/what to get?)
Lighter wheels

Get it home. Ride it. See what works, what fits, and what doesn't...
There's no way you will ever know until you see for yourself.
I haven't seen one of those on here yet, Haven't seen any real reviews.
You're the first. A pioneer of sorts... A true adventurer..
Show us what you got when you get it put together!

Whoa, on second thought..
That's a steel frame plus bike with linear pull brakes.
A 26" plus bike. It's supposed to be 64" end to end and weighs almost 45lb.

Did you consider the Mongoose Dolomite? or the Hitch? The Terrex? Or the Huffy Warhawk 29+?
All of those have steel frames, but they have disc brakes. And the weight difference between all of these bikes is insignificant. A steel frame fat bike is going to be a heavy dude no matter how you modify it.
The Tyrant might be perfect for someone who wants to ride and not worry about upgrades or ever having disc brakes, but if you want to hot rod a new bike, this one will present you with certain limits

Thank you both for replying quickly - I was worried this was a dead forum section.

As for the tyrant, I purchased it because it's a semi-fat tire bike. I should have done more research and started off with a disc brake bike from the getgo.. will report bank once it comes tomorrow. I might end up keeping it but a 45lb bike is heavy and I'm not too keen on that

Returning the bike once I get it, found a great deal on a used diamondback axis ex which is in every way a better bike.
