Are those 100mm forks? I find that mine made the bike feel sluggish while turning, did the shorter stem on your bike fix that any to you?

80mm. No sluggish feel. I had another one with 100mm and didn't notice it either but i only ride that one a few times

hey so I'm thinking of buying this, I've read through the first half of the forum but wanted to ask some questions if anyone can help.

I grew up on bmx, still have mine but don't ride it much because most of the time I'm just cruising around with my 5 year old son. I'm Looking for something I can comfortably sit down on and ride with my son but also hit the odd jump or hop around on curbs and stuff with. ideally be able to 180 and do barspins like on my bmx. I'd love one of the ns dirt jumpers or a 26" bmx cruiser but I don't wanna spend 500$ or more

I'm mostly concerned about this bike being strong enough. I've read about the headset and the bb, I'm fully prepared to replace those, also fully prepared to strip the bike down and grease it all up/tighten things properly, I always worked on my bmx myself. I'm sure it'll hold up for hopping curbs but I don't want to get impaled if I do ever get brave and hit something big. I do hit decent sized jumps on my bmx still when I have spare time.

im 6 foot 230 pounds. I saw someone posted earlier that they were 6 foot 250 and it was fine. I always rode brakeless and slammed seat on my bmx so I'm used to not sitting while riding. the plan for this bike would be to get one of those quick clamps like on mountain bikes so I can raise or lower the seat on the go.

I'm pretty set on this one but I've found some used dirt jumpers on kijiji for 300$ ish so I'm just eating whether to spend the extra 150$ for a better used bike or go with this one, any thoughts on this bike being strong enough for a chunky guy like me or if I should just go with the higher quality used one?

^^^^
just wanted to add that for the price I'm not worried about having to spend money on parts later on, my main concern is not seriously injuring myself because something serious brakes like the frame/fork/wheels crumpling

A failed 180 and I could imagine a guy your size killing a wheel on the landing lol.. No idea if an aftermarket wheel would be better. With WalMart's return policy, you could just go for it, and return it if it doesn't work out.
Tire choice might play a major role in the milder things you mentioned, good tires and proper pressures can add strength to a wheelset. It would be in my top ten upgrades for this bike.

I realize this is an old thread but I just saw this bike tonight but it seems it's not offered any more.

What other 26 inch would come close to this?
Not looking for a big dollar bike.
Thanks

Yes I know this is ancient, but this thread was invaluable when I picked one of these up a few months back for $50 on a whim. I saw a bmx cruiser, and I guess I wasn't the first.

This is how mine turned out; all in, I'm still under $200. The highlights:

-Fly Racing 5.5" aluminum bmx cruiser bars
-Promax stem
-Shimano brake w/ Origin8 lever
-Blackops alloy pedals
-SE Racing seat
-A'me tri grips

I couldn't take the decals and orange bits, and they were all gone the night I got it home. I think it turned out pretty cool, and it cruises great. Meet Big Blue:
