Looking at sunour 120mm air front fork, dnm rear shock, ardent 2.4 tires cuz its a bit sandy here, haven't quite decided on a wheel set yet but trying to save weight and money....after these then not sure what I'll focus on but probably try and swap out the brakes at that point

Now your talking my language :) Those are darn good choices but don't forget a good groupset and with that includes hydraulic brakes.500 bucks is a good estimate for everything you just mentioned.Bars and stems also would top it off at the 500 dollar range.Pretty decent choices that will turn your bike into a seriously solid machine.I always looked for someone to do a proper build on one of these bikes because of the potential.

U really think I could add a good bar and stem set to that list and stay under 500?

Also haven't really looked at group set and brakes yet but I am toying with a 2x setup on the drive train....what are your thoughts on the hydraulic brake system....I thought the cable disc system would be less maintenance and still effective??

Your cable brakes will be fine until the hydraulic bug bites you. With cables, you never get bubbles in the lines, you never loose oil, and they're simple to maintain. Hydraulics, Just feel soooo smooth.. I've bought takeoffs and closeout handlebars on Ebay at ridiculously low prices. Stems are out there if you look. I like BMX style short stems, but there are heavy duty stems out there if you need a longer stem for the reach. Watch for the deals, Nashbar is another good source for low cost parts.

Thanks tomcat...I'll look at nashbar, but was looking on amazon at a couple that were all under 50 bux....by the time I'm done with suspension, wheel set, and tires, I will focus more on brakes and bars unless a component happens to fail

Cable brakes are fine and super cheap for bb7s.
