No pics, but I finally got the Yakuza out for a ride. Between freezing temps and then the <10% chance of rain that turned into a constant drizzle for the last couple of days, it's been sucky weather even in central Texas.
It was still drizzly this morning (forecast 0% precipitation...) and I went to the Frankenbike swap meet for a while, but the drizzle stopped when I was there. Headed out to the North Salado Creek Greenway and then down the trails to McAllister Park. I probably got about 8 miles of paved paths and another 5 of dirt and mud, so felt good to be out riding.
Loving the 2.4" tires - they float over gravel and loose dirt.
Current bbb bikes - Mongoose Beast, Iron Horse Yakuza 5.1. Other bikes - Marin Fairfax, Specialized Sequoia, and Torker Tristar. Other "other" bikes - Cyco-cycle, Razor DXT drifter. Current project - 1995 Specialized Hard Rock to gravel grinder.

today i rode to the next town and back, then 2 or 3 blocks to the park, and then home again, a couple of miles each way. nothing in particular happened. i only mention it because it's been a couple of weeks since i've ridden anywhere because of bad weather and/or snow on the roads and sidewalks. there was a young lady who never even looked up when i announced "on your left", nor after i passed her, i think she had a cell phone in her hand. bike felt like something was dragging, turns out the front wheel is a bit out of true. i'm out of shape and felt it, but if the weather holds, shape will come back.

Here is your before and after pictures. It will be some months or more before mountain biking anywhere in these forest. They already have put up no go zones for bikers and you really have to be careful because trees are still falling.

No its not normal weather, and its been 50 degrees for the last month as daytime highs and that's not normal either. The wind speeds were off the charts for a large part of western Europe but in the mountains its much worse. Remember this is supposedly a winter wonderland and now its like Seattle.

weird. north america has been getting unusual cold blasts with snow and ice in places like charleston, sc and pensacola fl, while the rest of the northern hemisphere is unusually warm.

Here in central Texas, our weather is all over the place (even more than usual - "Don't like the weather? Wait a minute." is no longer hyperbole.)
We were in the 70s yesterday but it hit freezing this morning. Really puts a damper on planning bike rides.
